Parents who strongly object to their children leaving their family religion. the ones who disown and beat their children “in the name of God”.

Forget the fact that it’s religion for a second. At the base level, as a parent, you are telling your child not only that it’s not okay to be different, but that they are wrong for thinking critically and objectively. That is something that should be applauded, not discouraged. Doing this as a parent makes one thong clear; you are willing to sacrifice your duty as a parent to your own beliefs.

Just one of those things that I don’t get.
